Photo of the Day: Rainy Day Wedding Shoes

I think the ol' saying goes "When the Universe gives you rain, stomp in rain puddles." Well that's what this bride thought anyway during her rainy early June wedding! Just go with the flow.  Photographer Kari Harer captured the perfect moment: the wedding party in Wellies, a conversation piece for the rest of this couple's life! I love the purple rain boots with the bride's lace wedding dress.

There is definitely something about Bridesmaids in rainboots that just gets the ol' tear factory going. I think it might have to do with their obviously love for their bridal bestie aka they wore galoshes with their fabulous dresses when they should have been wearing Jimmy Choo's.

{Real Wedding} Marisa + Evan - A Multicultural Affair at Yale

Happy Monday Lovelies! Have I got the most beautiful multicultural wedding for you from the fabulous Shang Chen Photography. So excited to share this Scottish/Thai/American wedding with you!

Meet Marisa and Evan, college sweethearts who first met while singing in Yale's Schola Contaorum. After "rounds" of dating, they finally made it official back where it all began when they tied the knot at the Marquand Chapel at Yale Divinity School. Their wedding celebration was stylish, and modern, with tons of gorgeous cultural details and appropriately full of music, from the ceremony's choral ensemble at the ceremony to a rockin' live band at their New Haven Lawn Club reception. 

Marissa was simply stunning in her gorgeous lace Birnbaum and Billock gown while Evan and his groomsmen sported kilts and all in honor of Evan's Scottish heritage. The bridesmaids were decked out in short teal numbers with fun, full petticoats and her bridespeople (yes, she had two close male friends in her wedding party) were dashing in their tuxes with full on feather boutonnieres.

Interestingly, Marisa and Evan were married on the same wedding date as both their parents AND the minister. Like many other multicultural couples, they were also married in Thailand where Marisa's mother is from, after their initial honeymoon.

What an amazing back to this dress! I adore the see through lace at the top (similar to Art Deco Gal's dress predictions for 2013) and the buttons down her back add a vintage feel to this already gorgeous gown. She pulls it off with such elegance and class.

This bridesperson bout is simply to die for with its flowing feathers and beautiful colors. Vintage, handsome, it's quite a unique take on a traditional wedding must have.

It was the lovely details that made this wedding - the teal and brown color palette, deep hued floral pieces of roses, hydrangeas, calla lilies, thistles, and heather, a Scottish custom, and the traditional sgian-dubh knife worn by Evan. My favorite are the bridesmaid's gorgeous handmade hair fascinators and a matching one pinned on Marisa's mother's dress.

Evan and his men opted for the traditional Scottish wedding attire, adding a touch of class and splendor to the celebration. Highland dress, a staple of Scottish weddings for centuries, usually consists of jacket and waistcoat, kilt in traditional clan tartan, white hose, gillie brogue shoes, kilt pin, sgian dubh (knife), black belt with buckle, formal sporran with chain strap (waist bag), wing collar shirt, black or coloured bow tie, and a piece of lucky heather on the lapel. Yup, that seems about right!
