Kelley + Todd | An Irish Cultural Affair - Handfasting, Kelly Green Kilts, & Chucks

There is nothing I love more than seeing couples embrace their cultural heritage on their wedding day. What better way to honor the coming together of two families? I was thrilled when Fiona Lorne Photography sent over this Irish inspired celebration from Austin, TX. Kelley and Todd are a sweet couple who took the things they love, that make them unique, and incorporated them into their special day.  And coming from Boston, I've got lots of other simple, easy to recreate ideas for adding a wee touch o' the Emerald Isle to your hitching day.

These high school sweethearts did an amazing job tying in Todd's Celtic heritage throughout the entire wedding: they were married on St Patrick's Day, the maids wore green while the men donned kilts in the Irish National Plaid. Kelley even wore the plaid as a sash on her gown, which was pinned with a sword pin from Todd's uncle, donated to the couple for their wedding day.  Kelley's bouquet included a penny from Todd's deceased grandmother so she could attend the ceremony in spirit.

The guest book was a Book of Shadows, tying in the couple's pagan religious preferences, and the ceremony itself was a handfasting that included an exchange of rings. The rings have Celtic designs on them, and Todd's was handmade particularly for him. And don't forget all the touches of personality Kelley and Todd added -- hello, Chucks and Kilts!

{Inspiration Board No. 5) Emerald & Champage Wedding Colors

These days, my de Lovely inbox has just been overflowing with wedding ideas, reception questions, and color inspiration. By far, one of my favorites has been a small cry for help with a possible Emerald and Champagne wedding. I say possible because one of the bridesmaids finally spilled the beans... the bride has no clue about wedding colors, only that she loves green and her dress has a champagne sash. Works for me, I said and why not...these colors are gorgeous together! Classic, classy, yet modern and fun. Champagne is elegant and sophisticated, while emerald green can be playful and lively, rich and vibrant, the perfect shade and a perfect combination.

Hope our not so sure bride finds her wedding color muse and some inspiration in these super cute details of our Emerald and Champagne Wedding Board...I mean seriously, I am totally in love with those shoes! {You can find them HERE}
