{Global Wedding Inspiration} Spotlight: Scotland

Happy Monday my de Lovlies! I am so excited to share this {Global Inspiration Board} with you today: Scotland in honor of an upcoming Real Wedding submitted by one of the de Lovely Affair readers. YES, we will feature your wedding if you submit professional photographs and your story to us! Anyway, I was so inspired by her gorgeous pictures that I thought you might enjoy a little tease....you don't get her yet but here is a little something to wet your appetite. I will just say it is a stunning, vintage, art deco wedding that is NOT to be missed!

{Global Wedding Inspiration Board No. 3} SPOTLIGHT: Scotland

When I think of Scotland, what comes to mind is bagpipes and castles, a land steeped in mystery and tradition, rustic ruins and luxuary surroundings, kilts and tartan plaids, highlands and strong accents you can hardly understand but are cool nonetheless. Well, it is all that and so much more says the folks over at LITU, Scottish Wedding Consultants:
(It is ) a combination of pride of its people, the history, beautiful locations, the groom in a tartan plaid, a piper in his traditional No.1 regalia and the opportunity to hold your wedding in the finest Scottish wedding venues, a castle or mansion house in an ancient country steeped in Celtic mystique and character.
Full of culture, charm, and character, getting married in Scotland, despite being a little harder in terms of travel, is relatively easy in terms of marriage requirements as there is no residency law. File your appropriate paperwork with the Registrar General of Scotland (info HERE), speak to the parish priest if you want a church wedding, civil and humanist ceremonies are both recognized and two witnesses are required for all marriages!  You can find more info at Wedding Guide UK.

Choosing Scotland for your wedding is a great way to celebrate heritage and family roots if you have Scottish ancestry. But let's face it, most couples won't be traveling to Scotland to get married and simple touches of Scottish culture throughout your wedding celebration will work equally well. Think invitations, music, color and textures. I wrote this Guest Post for the Wedding Window blog about adding culture to your wedding. Hope it is helpful for planning your big day.
