Chinese lanterns are also ideal for tented receptions - easy to string up, they throw off a soft, diffused glow, perfect for capturing those intimate moments.  Up lighting can give off as much or as little color as you want, adding dimension that pops against a white tent top.  I had awesome colored chinese lanterns at my Boston wedding and then up lights for our evening wedding in Brazil. It was these details that wowed our guests more than anything!
