Kayla + Josh | Modern Anthropologie Style meets Vintage Romantic Picnic

Cupcakes, Mountain Meadows, and Happily Ever After with Katy Hall

This adorable, lighthearted, full of life and love engagement shoot was a must have - not because of the equally attractive Kayla and Josh, or their super stylish Anthropologie ensembles, or even their old-school romance inspired picnic complete with a colorful bunting, well loved quilt, and a basket of goodies. Its because their engagement shoot, captured by the super talented Katy Hall, is a testament to young love, a promising future, and every fabulous thing in between. This couple looks exactly how love should feel....as soon as you see the rest you will get exactly what I mean. Stylish, simple and real, their love, that sparkle and light and fun spirit shines through in every image.

Katy tells us: "The moment I met this sweet girl, I knew I wanted to be the one to capture her special day. She is full of love and a passion for life that I thought was unmatched. Then I met this amazing guy and I realised he’s equally contagious in his love for adventure, life, and laughter. Their engagement session encompasses their love for adventure and the simple pleasures in life.”

I am just in love with their love story! As Kayla tells it: Josh and I met my first night at college at a friend’s house and continued bumping into each other through mutual friends. We first began hanging out because of our interest in the show LOST which we watched at his house for a study break. I knew he must really like me when I got Swine Flu that semester and he still hung out with me when I was feeling pretty sick!” True love, most certainly!

But it's Josh's proposal that takes the cake -- or the cupcake in this case: "There is a lookout over the whole town called Garvin Heights. Some of my friends brought me up there one night and led me down a little path lit with candles. He was waiting at the end with chocolate covered strawberries and my favorite food – cupcakes and of course a ring! A friend filmed the whole thing. My favorite part of the whole story is that’s where my dad proposed to my mom.” Serious husband points!

{Inspiration} A Pillow Fight & Props - Spicing Up A Wedding Photo Session

Using props is becoming more and more popular in wedding shoots these days. I love the idea of gathering items that mean something to you as a couple and showing them off as a window into your personality.  Big, small, lavish, or simple, props can make a huge visual impact in your pictures -- and as with this styled engagement session sent over by Tiffany Amber Photography, they can be a whole lot of fun, as well. So let go of the traditional, embrace the different, introduce color, texture, light, and laughter....use props to enhance your photo session experience with your sweetie and your photographer. 

Here are some of my favorites of Cherissa and Chad a super sweet couple from San Juan, CA. Photographer Tiffany Henson shared: This couple is full of love and laughs! Chad is a goofyball who makes Cerissa smile every second of the day! They are truly meant for each other. There are couples who love each other and then there are couples who are so in love its contagious. That is Chad and Cerissa. They are best friends who fell in love, and are living their Happily Ever After! 

Cerissa and Chad are just way too cute for their own good -- I absolutely adore all the special touches they used in this shoot --from the location all the way down to the ceramic owl. A Pillow Fight? Genius -- for fun, frivolity, and as Tiffany Amber Photography shows us, way cool finished product!

{Real Couple} Angel & Patrick - Love Bird Theme + Pretty Pink & Green

An Anthropologie Inspired Wedding

Sometimes you run across weddings with every detail you love...those sweet things of life that make you tilt your head and sigh. This is one of those times. Sigh...Tilt.  I ran across this part of Angel and Patrick's celebration, captured by Rachel Olsen Photography and wanted to share with the Love Bird Theme in action. And what's not to love about pink parasols, little bird decorations, and peonies?



I am swooning over the bright color palette, green and light pink, the Anthropologie on a budget feel, and the natural branches used as centerpieces. Sweet touches like the pin on Angel's peony bouquet (my FAVE), pictures of the couple, and favorite quotes on the wall all help create an intimate, personal celebration.

Bird decor is slated to be the next IT thing for weddings next year - especially bird nests. LOVE!

The couple chose Couple Crossword Puzzles and "I'm with the Groom or the Bride" buttons as a fun way for guests to get in the spirit- just too cute!

Adorable shabby chic, vintage, rustic wedding ideas all rolled into one with side tables, place card bird cage and suitcase guest book.

The Denver Art Museum was the perfect backdrop with all its architectural details, and projecting their favorite love quotes on the wall was a perfect way to complete the entire intimate affair.
