South Asian Wedding Week + Monday Eye Candy

Welcome to South Asian wedding week here at deLovely Affair, your practical guide to multicultural and worldly weddings. South Asia is a hub of rich culture and ethnically diverse communities, known for colorful, vibrant, and festive celebrations; weddings are no exception. From Pakistan, to India, to the island country of Maldives, wedding traditions vary across religion, caste, ethnicity, language, region and no two weddings will be the same.  Weddings can last for days and include lavish rituals, dancing, food, henna tattoos and ceremonial baths--South Asian weddings are true family and community events.

As with anything, we recognize that we are not experts and there will be some generalities. In a region rich with tradition, culture, folklore, we could spend our entire lives devoted to the topic of South Asian weddings...it would be impossible to cover it all. So instead we will talk about what we do know, give you some inspirational Eye Candy, tips and advice, share a gorgeous wedding from the fabulous Binita Patel, and an easy DIY project for the eco-conscious bride. We hope to inspire you to reimagine how your wedding can be when you rediscover and reconnect with culture.

Real Wedding Eye Candy - Aqua and Red Styled Seashore Shoot

The most enjoyable part of creating this wedding blog is getting to peruse, without guilt, the virtual wedding world, aka the internet, for gorgeous images of inspiration and enjoyment. Over on Love and Lavender, I found this lovely little styled shoot by Mandy and Zoe from Dottie Photography. I can't NOT share this photoshoot with its sweet teal and red palette, vintage inspired labels and beach signs; the icing on the cake is the cutest pug in a bowtie ever. But I'll let you be the judge of that with today's Real Wedding Eye Candy.

Loving this fresh color combo and those red shoes are a must have.

Creative signs are a great way to add a little style and create a branded look.

Look closely at the labels on the cans, a sweet touch that adds some visual interest and simply, fun.

These gorgeous, vintage inspired outfits add to the over all theme and feel. Loving her blue ruffles!

These dessert tables are to die for...a little something for everyone!

{Monday Eye Candy} A Pretty Holiday Table

For {Monday Eye Candy}, I came across this gorgeous holiday table I only WISH I had the time or talent to create, courtesy of Green Wedding Shoes. It blends traditional christmas with modern design. It is warm and clean, pure and grounded at the same time. Love the tartan tablecloth and all white flowers in combination with silver and gold balls and lots and lots of glass.  The DIY ornaments, as place settings, add a sweet, personal touch. I have apparently really been diggin' on Green Wedding Shoes lately...cause here is yet another gorgeous shoot of theirs that needs to be shared. What started off as a board for Cinco de Mayo turned into a full blown, Mexican/Spanish inspired shoot, complete with a horse, fabulous succulents you know I simply adore, old world charm, vintage wedding ware and of course a donkey. From the original blog post, "We wanted a fresh, modern take with soft, pastel colors instead of the expected bright colors. The amazing team of Stephanie + Isaac from This Modern Romance photographed the feature at the Star Ranch in Corona, CA. The Star Ranch would be such a great location for a wedding – amazing views, gorgeous landscape and an overall great atmosphere."
